Passion Pita Pizzas ~

Our Good Friday Meal ~

First we took a pita and discussed how the stripes remind us of Our Lord's scourged body and that by His stripes we are healed.
We are also thankful that He gives His body to us in the Holy Eucharist to streghten us along our journey.

We brushed the pita bread with olive oil for He was arrested in the Garden of Olives.
(I bake these at 425 for about 5-8 min to get them crispy)

Next we spread the pizza sauce to represent the blood He shed for us and for all so that sins may be forgiven.

The white cheese and mushrooms were added to represent purity from sin.

We added green bellpepper in the shape of a cross to represent life. 

Black Olives were added for His 5 Wounds.

Onions were added last to represent tears shed.

I sprinkled a little more cheese on the top and baked them for about 10 min., keeping an eye on them so they didn't burn.

They are very symbolic and yummy!

Sugary, Wintry Houses ~

We finally got around to making our Christmas houses today.

 The kids had a blast and I had fun listening to them laugh.

Happy 8th Birthday Buck!

Our little man turned 8 today and we had a wonderful time celebrating!

He wanted a football field cake

and

lots of boys friends over to play a game in the back yard.

I just LOVE big Catholic families! 

Everyone had someone to talk to and play with.  From the moms and dads down to the little girls :)

This was my first double-decker sheet cake and I just love the way it turned out!

Buck and his dad helped line up the Skittles  players, complete with referees.

It was a wonderful day!

Mortimer's Christmas Manger

Snuggle Bug, Buck and Honeybee have been busy making gingerbread (graham cracker) houses. First, I read aloud Mortimer's Christmas Manger to them. It's a precious little story about a mouse whose looking for a soft, warm, safe place to call home. At first he takes Baby Jesus's manger. However, he changes his mind once he hears the true story of Christmas. He ends up moving into a gingerbread house :) A perfect book to read leading up to building time!
