2012 Summer Olympic Inspiration ~

We've all been enjoying watching the Summer Olympics from London, England.  These athletes are all so amazing.  The hard work and discipline they've put into training is admirable and inspiring.  There has been no short of inspiration around here!

Honeybee has been dancing around twirling this homemade rhythmic gymnastics apparatus :)
We also had a floor routine exhibition.

Buck's been busy building lots of Olympic events with Legos  ~

It's been a fun couple of weeks of learning!

Snuggle Bug's Confirmed and Buck and Honeybee receive Jesus in First Holy Communion ~

Our sweet Snuggle Bug was Confirmed as a Catholic Christian Adult last Friday night.

She and I made a wonderful lapbook from Faith Folders for Catholics as part of her preparation.
After watching Therese and reading A Story of a Soul, among other things, she chose St. Therese as her Patron Saint.
Her grandparents came in town and spent the weekend with us. It was so nice to have them here to share in our weekend.
On Saturday Granny helped Buck and Honeybee make their First Communion banners for Sunday's Mass.

Granny was a huge help as we cooked and decorated for Sunday's party!
Our Pentecost decorations were just perfect for this!

Sunday was such a special day with Buck and Honeybee receiving Jesus for the 1st time!

Here their banners hang on the ends of pews.

The First Communion Cake ~
Baked by The House Cat and decorated by Granny.

We also had the privilege of celebrating our Goddaughter's Birthday this same day.
The House Cat baked and decorated this cake for her :)

Yes, we had three cakes in the house!!  Not an easy place to be for someone trying to avoid sugar ;)  The House Cat was a huge help baking all of them for me.  Thanks HC!

SB had the great idea of having a 7 Layer Salad for The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit as part of our meal.

We also had Pork Tenderloin, Buffalo Chicken, Chips and Salsa, and Pimento and Cheese on Celery.  Got too busy and forgot to take the picture :/

It was such a blessed weekend overflowing with the Gifts of The Sacraments.

Thank you Lord for Your Holy Church!

Honeybee's Reasoning ~

Mom asks kids, "Should we continue watching Jesus of Nazareth tonight or a couple of eposides of I Love Lucy?"

We all vote and it is a tie.

Honeybee speaks up in her dramatic tone...

"Mom, I Love Jesus, but I Love Lucy is funnier!"

I guess she is right....

Honeybee's 1st Pie ~

Honeybee loves Amelia Bedelia.  I do too ;)

So this week after we read

we tried our hand at making a Lemon Pie.
Thanks to the Jello Pudding box this was quite easy!

Honeybee was thrilled when I let her stir the pudding while it was cooking!
It turned out so pretty!
(I guess I got busy and didn't make pics in between:)
Everyone enjoyed Honeybee's dessert!

This is how I like to teach guide my children to "love to learn!"

Sweet & Simple on St. Lucy's Day

Honeybee asked me the other day, "Mommy, why don't you ever play with me?"  Lets see...laundry, cooking, cleaning, schooling..... Oh yeah, in a five year old's mind those are things that mom enjoys doing. Right?  So, yesterday afternoon I had a little spare time to stop and "play" with Honeybee.  Around 4:00pm I asked her if she'd like to make a crown for St. Lucia's Day.  I know this is traditionally worn in the morning to wake the family.  For those of you who know me, you know that I am NOT a morning person....  I was so excited to see this easy paper crown and we even had a paper plate with a pretty floral edge on it!  Yay, I thought this might actually come together!

Once the crown was made, she and Snuggle Bug, who was now in on the action, ran back to her closet and found her white "dress up" gown.  She added one of her brother's white undershirts and my red robe sash and looked just precious!  Now for the buns...  Thank goodness Jessica mentioned cinnamon rolls in one of her posts.  Thankfully, my honey calls on his way home from the dentist..., "Do you need me to pick up anything?", he asks.
Cinnamon Rolls of course!
Honeybee was just thrilled to bring dessert to the table as I played Santa Lucia in the background.

Later I asked her if this counted as me playing with her.  She looked at me with eyes that said, "What are you talking about?"  Oh well.....at least I tried :)

Honeybee's turn

Another package ready to send to Locks of Love.  Honeybee LOVES to brush her hair now :)  No more running and hiding from the mean mom with the tangle ripper!

Now we are 3 for 3 ~ all three girls have donated 10 inches of their hair to this worthy cause.  We are so proud of all of them!
