Fall Break!

So what do you do when the seasons change,
the weather is beautiful, and mom's recovering from surgery?

You take a Fall Break!

Thanks Donna for reminding me of this!

Saint Michael the Archangel Pray For Us

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..

A Thankful Woman's Daybook

For today ~ Monday, September 28, 2009

Outside my window ~ Fall is in the air :) I enjoyed a morning cup of coffee out on the deck. Definietly a step in the right direction!

From the sofa ~ Life goes on. Dad's back in the office today. The House Cat and Snuggle Bug are keeping things going around here. So far today HC has vacuumed, switched the laundry, and is now making lunch for Honeybee (mac n cheese her favorite). She's also very kind to be sharing her new laptop with me. It's definitely helping me to pass the time today. SB has also been busy picking up, sweeping and helping out with lunch. She's going to read to me about St. Bernadette later. Homeschooling at its best!

I'm listening to ~ Cars on the tv and Buck and Honeybee playing cars on the floor. If Mater doesn't make you smile, nothing will!

I'm wearing ~ One of the new nightgowns my sweet mama got for me, new comfy grey slippers, and grey cotton capri's. She took me shopping a few days before the surgery and spoiled me with lots of new comfy recovery clothes :) My hair's up in a clip, and I'm wearing my new reading glasses and my mama's pink and white checked robe. We couldn't find a robe for me on our outing so she lent me one of hers. There's a special comfort in having it wrapped around me. Kinda like she's giving me a big hug right now :)

Looking forward to ~ Can't wait to get back on the treadmill. I'm feeling a new surge to really work on a healthy body. Let's hope this is still the case when I actually can get back to exercising!

So many things to be thankful for ~

I am getting better - SLOWLY - but surely.

My sweet husband is such a gift from above. He has been working so hard taking care of us, and, as if that's not enough, he's still there to dry my tears.

The House Cat is a wonderful little mama around here. She cooks, she cleans, and she bathes her baby sister. She is learning so many wonderful skills that I never had.

Snuggle Bug is a wonderful companion for Buck and Honeybee. She's such a fun playmate and is teaching them so many things in return. She has so much love to give - just like a little snuggle bug :)

Buck is a thriving little man - wanting to be just like his daddy. He still loves his lullaby before bed. The sweetest thing is hearing him sing me the lullaby when I'm not feeling well.

Honeybee has been my little Florence Nightengale. She's always looking for a way to make me feel better. As I've said, I move from couch to bed. She's quick to grab my pillows and head to my destination, making me as comfortable as possible.

From the kitchen ~ Lots of food coming from so many beautiful people wanting to help. I'm so grateful for this. It's a huge help to my honey. An added blessing is we have been able to share with our neighbor who is also recovering from surgery. I must admit that I can't wait to be back on the "giving" end.

My plans this week ~ Rest, rest, rest and more rest :)
Also, have my two week follow - up on Thursday.

I hope to start this soon ~

State By State Scrapbook

I'm also looking into this for Snuggle Bug's future use ~

Literature For the Young Lady

I'm enjoying hearing ~

The House Cat play guitar and Snuggle Bug reading aloud to Honeybee. She's also started reading
Bernadette: Our Lady's Little Servant aloud to me. She was sharing with me yesterday about St. Bernadette and her prayer to be a faithful and cheerful sufferer for Our Lord. I asked her if she would read to me about her. She light up and was happy to oblige :)

My motto today and for a while I expect:

"Give me an occupation or I'll shall run mad!" (Colonel Brandon from Sense and Sensibility)

Doing laundry never sounded so fun!

You've Got Mail!

Today I found myself excited to receive mail. I'm usually way to busy to think of what may be in the mail. My spirits sure did lift to hear from not one, but, two friends today! Your prospective really changes when you have to stay still and let others serve you. I know this is not going to be a quick recovery. I am remembering to offer my sufferings for those I know who really need it. However, it doesn't take any of the pain or emotional up's and down's away. The words of the priest are coming to me now -PERSEVERE! I am so thankful for all of the meals, cards, calls, and well wishes. I am also reminded of how important it is to reach out to those who are having a difficult time. God truly speaks to us through others.

Thank You For Your Thoughts and Prayers

Hi everyone. Just wanted to post a quick note letting you know that I'm still here :)
The surgery went well and now I have to be a really good girl for a while and rest. I'm still extremely sore but, considering the extent of the surgery I'm doing remarkably well. I'm alternating between couch and bed and am blessed to have such wonderful caregivers! Hope you all have a great week staying busy with your blessings!

Take Up Your Cross And Follow Me

God knew exactly what I needed to hear yesterday. This was our opening hymn. I had a tough week last week. A follow up ultrasound showed the cyst on my ovary is still growing. Not wanting to take the pill to see if it helped, the family and I made a trip to Atlanta to see the closest NFP doctor in our area. I wasn't prepared for what she had to say.... My uterus is enlarged (13 week pregnancy) - but no baby:( Also the cyst on my ovary is huge. Back in 2005 I lost my left ovary to endometriosis. She felt sure this was exactly what was growing inside me again. The laprascopic surgery back in April showed lots of adhesions. At that time my doctor cleaned up my remaining ovary and tried to protect it with a mesh covering. I took the pictures from that surgery with me to see Dr. Raviele. She took one look at them and said, "You have terrible endometriosis." After the exam she said there is nothing else that can be done and I needed to have a hysterectomy soon. WOW- I was sitting there hoping for some progesterone cream or something :/ Oh well, God knows what He is doing. So once again I will take up my cross and follow Him! Please pray for us all. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning 6:30 am.

While in Atlanta we did have some fun though. We visited Stone Mountain. Since it was Labor Day they had an amazing laser and fireworks show! We all really enjoyed it! We all hope to go back one day and ride the duck and the skylift.

Have a blessed week

Buck's Word Ladder

I'm so proud of Buck! He's doing great learning to read using Hooked On Phonics. He loves building the word ladder. If he misses a word, it goes to the back of the stack and he keeps trying until he gets it right. I'm so thankful this series was given to me. I had been wanting to preview it but had not had the opportunity. God is so good!
